I hope GOG is reading this, otherwise I might send a note to support and start a wishlist. For Windows/OSX/Linux players, the game is downloadable via Humble Store, Steam or GOG.com. The game was created by Harebrained Schemes, LLC and original creator Jordan Weisman.

I think they should definitely have the same attitude towards DLC. Shadowrun Returns (SR:R) is a PC game funded through Kickstarter (in the period up to April 29, 2012). If I recall correctly from their Galaxy client promo is that it is optional and doesn't lock people in. Since if you're using the installer that comes with the game (I suspect most games, if not all, would have their own installers), or if you're copying the files manually, it would work. It's also leaning dangerously towards the kind of publisher/distributor lock-in crap that makes people (such as me) hate Steam so much. Squid830: Seems a bit strange for GOG to do that. In other words, it's a case of some developers somewhere coming up with something that seems like a good idea (since it may reduce their development time with respect to installer writing), but may inadvertently be having a negative impact. At the very least it could mean they miss out on some sales (from people who've bought the original somewhere else but now want to buy the expansion from GOG). However, for GOG to require this seems a bit much. I can fully understand that GOG take advantage of their own versions to locate the game, although it shouldn't be strictly necessary it does make writing installers easier across a multitude of games/platforms. I seem to recall that glitching with MindGames DLC (they actually owned the base game). In fact I'm not entirely sure if GOG will let you purchase it without owning the base game.

Shadowrun mashes together a near-future version of Earth full of shady corporations, vigilante hackers and street samurai with magic. ItвЂ™s not as good as its follow-ups, Dragonfall and Hong Kong, but itвЂ™s a great, if a bit brief, introduction to universe. Shadowrun Returns can be yours for nothing at all, as long as you snatch it up in the next day. No, CD Projekt Red isnвЂ™t injecting magic into their sci-fi RPG, but some magical cyberpunk is free on the Humble store right now. If youвЂ™ve been following all of our Cyberpunk 2077 coverage and thinking it could really do with some Orcs, youвЂ™re in luck.
